BEC recognizes the importance of industry collaborations in fostering research and developing a qualified workforce. The collaboration between the college and industries benefits both parties. The industry gains access to skilled workers with practical training and specialized expertise, while the institute has the opportunity to work on relevant technologies and real-world problems. Additionally, such collaborations often facilitate career transitions between academia and industry.

In line with this commitment, BEC has established the following guidelines to promote and facilitate industry collaborations:

  1. Industrial Visits: BEC shall arrange industrial visits for students every year. These visits provide students with firsthand exposure to industry practices, processes, and technologies.
  2. Faculty Internships: BEC encourages faculty members to undertake one-week internships in industries every year. This experience helps faculty stay updated with industry trends and practices, enhancing the quality of education they provide.
  3. Student Internships: BEC guides students to undergo a one-month internship during their course of study. This internship enables students to apply their theoretical knowledge in practical settings, gain industry experience, and develop essential skills.
  4. Faculty Involvement in R&D: BEC motivates faculty members to participate in industry research and development (R&D) teams. This involvement facilitates collaboration on research projects, fosters innovation, and strengthens the link between academia and industry.
  5. Industry Representation: Industry experts are invited to serve as members of the Board of Studies and Governing Council at BEC. Their valuable insights and expertise contribute to the development and enhancement of the college’s curriculum and policies.
  6. Practical Knowledge Dissemination: BEC promotes the inclusion of industry experts in the delivery of education. These experts may handle specific one-credit courses, contribute to relevant subjects, or provide guidance in laboratory sessions. This approach ensures students receive practical knowledge aligned with industry requirements.
  7. Industry-Based Project Work: Final-year students at BEC are facilitated in conducting their project work in collaboration with industries. This opportunity allows students to work on real-world challenges, gain exposure to industry practices, and develop problem- solving skills.
  8. Start-ups and Centers of Excellence: BEC plans to support and encourage the establishment of start-ups and sponsored centres of excellence in all departments. This initiative fosters entrepreneurship, innovation, and industry-relevant research within the college.

BEC expects stakeholders, including students, faculty members, industry partners, and governing bodies, to adhere to this Industry Collaboration Policy (IC Policy). By embracing these guidelines, the college aims to create a thriving ecosystem of industry collaborations that benefit both the academic community and the industries it serves.
